A study is not the written report that you end up with in your hands. That written part is just a summary of a great deal of work. A study is a social work/agency process, with the rules mandated by New York State. It involves agency staff collecting and processing family information, like references and medicals, and opening a formal case record, as well as other staff visiting a family, assessing that family and writing a report, then having that report evaluated and edited by supervisory staff. In order to get to the final written report, at least five different agency staff members spend many hours of time on each family's material.
