We are pleased to announce that The Council on Accreditation (COA) granted FAMILY FOCUS ADOPTION SERVICES' application for Hague Accreditation pursuant to the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 (IAA), and the Certificate of Accreditation was issued on March 24, 2008 for a period until March 31, 2013.

FAMILY FOCUS ADOPTION SERVICES is authorized by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services as a full service adoption agency and a home study preparer to conduct family studies under the law of the jurisdiction in the State of New York for Hague Convention countries as well as non-Hague Convention countries.

If you are considering adopting a child from another country, you must first determine which country is best for you. Each country has its own regulations about who is allowed to adopt, and the rules change periodically. The Family Services Program has Program Assistants who will speak with you about how to get started and where to find up-to-date information.

Our Family Services Program is not an international placement program - which means that we do not directly place children from another country in your home. We are familiar with placing agencies across the country who specialize in placing children internationally and we can give you general information about how to find a placing agency with whom to work. That agency may be local, but most of them are spread throughout the United States. Since they can't personally come to your home to do site visits and interviews for your family study, which is an essential part of the adoption process, they will ask you to find an approved adoption agency in your area. FAMILY FOCUS offers training, home visits and a complete family study for a reasonable fee. Once your report is approved by your placing agency, you receive signed and notarized copies for use with your dossier and the United State Citizenship and Immigration Services.

In addition, most of the countries with international adoption placements and some of the private inter-state adoption regulations require a number of post-placement supervisory visits and reports. These visits usually take place in your home, by appointment and are conducted for the support of the family and to insure that your adopted child is in a nurturing, safe environment. Post-placement supervision is another service that is offered by the Family Services Program.

The Family Services Program of FAMILY FOCUS ADOPTION SERVICES welcomes your calls and is happy to answer your questions about intercountry adoptions.

The Family Services Program of FAMILY FOCUS ADOPTION SERVICES is pleased to be able to provide a wide range of services to assist you with your planned adoption. At the time that you are ready, we are able to conduct comprehensive family studies and updates for intercountry adoptions and for court precertifications, in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost.
